I continue to have no side effects at all from my treatment. It’s quite amazing. The worst thing I’m facing is a bout of cabin fever from having to stay on the ward 24/7. Out the window I can see that it’s a beautiful evening, I can watch the wind blowing the leaves on the trees, but my room is so hermetically sealed that I might as well be viewing a super high-definition video feed. I miss being out in the open air.
The doctors say I can leave the hospital on Friday if I continue to do well. That’s just four days. If that happens, It will be nice to be with Suzie again and regain some autonomy. Even though the nurses and staff here at Stanford Hospital are terrific, it’s hard for me to be a patient, to be kept-care-of. Six days is enough, and I’m getting bored.
It’s still possible that I may have some side effects in the coming days, but I have a sense that even if I do, they’ll be minor. Even with the regular CAR-T therapy, where they dump all the modified cells back into you all at once, some people don’t have a negative reaction. Maybe I’m one of those.
Or maybe I just jinxed it. But I don’t think so. I’m irrationally confident that I’m just lucky. Though time will tell.

I sympathize with the cabin fever blues. I’m wondering if you have discovered Christopher Buckley, the author of very funny (to me) satirical books. The latest “Has anybody seen my toes?” had me laughing before going to sleep so often it bothered Gary. I can’t remember laughing so much while reading a book. I know not everyone agrees on what is funny, but it might be worth a try. Only 4 more days….

I was so sorry to hear you were bored and deprived of getting out and about where you love to be. I hope that changes soon. Maybe you can find some great classical movies like Casablanca to watch.
