Trial Participation Confirmed, Today is D-6

I got a call from Stanford yesterday confirming (finally) that I’m eligible for the Phase 1 trial. I always thought that I would be, but it wasn’t a sure thing until the trial sponsor gave final approval.

I’ll be going into the hospital May 5 and getting the new treatment May 6. We finalized our rental of a place in Palo Alto so everything is set.

For those interested, here’s a long, detailed, and technical video about the treatment, referred to as KLN-1010. It’s exciting and a little scary to participate in the study of such a novel treatment. Mostly, though, I’m just glad that after waiting many months, I’m finally getting treated. I’ve held up pretty well (no pain, not much fatigue) but knew that could change at any time.

Onward!
